On Thursday October 20th, alongside Peace Community Center and Campfire USA – Fab-5 became a 2011 Grant Recipient of The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy Board for the Youth Board’s very first competitive grant-making process. Through the Youth Against Violence Fund, the board seeks to proactively counter and preempt the dynamics of Youth Violence in Pierce County by bringing support to the programs that make the difference young people need. The board identified three essential elements in countering youth violence which included the development of Self Esteem, Youth Empowerment, & the promotion of Healthy Choices.
Fab-5 ‘s LIFE program was identified as being vital in these areas in addition to actively incorporating youth voice in program development – all of which resulted in Fab-5′s reception of the grant.
