| About Fab-5 The Fab5 is an initiative of the Northwest Leadership Foundation. The organization was created to provide conduits for the youth to develop their talent within the hip-hop culture. The Fab5 provides youth with safe, drug and alcohol free events. The Pacific Northwest lacks events where youth can come together to showcase their talent and earn respect among their peers. The mission of the organization is to bridge the gap between the youth of Pierce County, specifically the hip-hop generation and the older generation to provide mentorship, leadership and positive role models. Fab5's goal is to foster and cultivate the youth's various talents in break dancing, emceeing, djing and graffiti art Purpose Statements: Youth Empowerment – Fab5 believes that the youth are the ones who influence others to change. Through hospitality Fab5 wishes to provide the youth with opportunities to showcase their talent. Creative Energy – Fab5 believes that the youth need outlets to express themselves in their own way. Through encouragement and cultivation, Fab5 pushes the youth to challenge everyday norms and stereotypes. Positive Relationships – The youth yearn for positive role models in their lives. Through these relationships the youth learn the meaning of accountability, love, caring and discipline. Fab5 hopes to build solid relationships with the youth where they feel free to express themselves and share the struggles that they face. Partnerships – The youth need opportunities where they can build partnerships within the community. Fab5 hopes to build these partnerships with youth groups, organizations and businesses. Fab5 hopes to identify programs that have positive and healthy impacts on the youth and the culture of Hip-Hop. Leadership Development – Through empowering the youth of Tacoma, Fab5 hopes to build solid leaders. Fab5 hopes to nurture youth that wish to be leaders in the community. Through giving the youth opportunities to step up and take a stand for their believers, leaders will be born. |
